Sarah Porter, LMHC
Hi, I'm Sarah — a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and Autism Spectrum Disorder Clinical Specialist (ASDCS) based in Florida.
I’m passionate about helping people navigate life’s hardest seasons — not just because I’ve studied it, but because I’ve lived it. My counseling style is relational, strengths-based, and grounded in clinical expertise with a deep respect for each person’s story.
I hold a Master of Arts in Professional Counseling from Liberty University’s School of Behavioral Sciences. I completed my practicum in Delaware and continued my training with Gilstrap & Associates in Orlando, Florida, where I gained hands-on experience in diagnostic evaluations, trauma recovery, marriage and family counseling, and neurodivergence. I’m also a member of the American Counseling Association (ACA) and the American Association of Christian Counselors (AACC) and draw from evidence-based practices like EMDR, existential and humanistic theory, and faith-integrated counseling.
But beyond the credentials — I get it.
I was born and raised in Indonesia, where I learned the value of empathy, cross-cultural connection, and seeing the world through someone else’s eyes. My twenties brought unexpected pain: a divorce, trauma, and an unplanned pregnancy that left me feeling stuck and alone. Counseling changed everything. As a single mom, I found healing, perspective, and a renewed sense of purpose and I knew I wanted to give that same hope to others.
Today, I’m married to my amazing husband, a former Navy submariner, and together we’ve built a beautiful, blended family of five kids — one through adoption, and four biological. Our life is full, real, and always growing. I understand the joys and challenges of parenting, marriage, adoption, deployments, and rebuilding life after hardship.
So, whether you're facing anxiety, faith struggles, relational conflict, trauma, parenting stress, or a big life transition — you're not alone. I bring both professional training and personal understanding into each session, and I’d be honored to walk alongside you.
